Hi, I’m Abigail

I create highly detailed watercolour paintings, with flowers and plants forming the main focus of my work. I also paint birds, insects and other subjects from the natural world. My paintings celebrate structure, colour, form and delicate textures, often shown at a larger scale to reveal details that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Based near Oxford, UK, I work primarily in watercolour, combining careful observation with a love of seasonal change and natural variety. Many of the flowers and plants I paint are grown in my own garden, allowing me to study them closely through different stages of growth and flowering. My interest in birds and other wildlife reflects the close relationship between gardens, plants and the wider natural environment.

My interest in botanical art was rekindled during the Covid-19 lockdowns, after a 30-year break from painting. I previously studied at Plymouth Art College and worked as a ceramic artist at Jersey Pottery. I later retrained in horticulture and worked in garden design, specialising in planting schemes. This experience continues to influence my paintings, particularly my understanding of plants, their growing habits and the way colour works across the seasons.

My original paintings, fine-art prints and greetings cards are available through my online shop. A selection of prints and cards can also be found at Blue Tin Produce farm shop near Ipsden, Wallingford.

I have exhibited as part of Oxfordshire Artweeks, the Henley Art Trail at The Maker Space in Nuffield, and the Oxford Botanic Garden Spring Fair at Harcourt Arboretum.

In 2026, my Iris germanica painting was selected for the Oxford Art Society’s Open Exhibition.

I am currently accepting commissions for bespoke botanical watercolours and welcome enquiries.
